It All Comes Down to This...

Tonight, the Ottawa Senators will try to do what they've never done in their history: Win a game 7 in a playoff series.

They sport an 0-4 record while the #1 seed New York Rangers have won all of three of their game 7's when they are the home team.

The Rangers won game 6 and are feeling good about themselves. How will the Sens respond?

Regardless of what happens tonight, the season, without question, has to be considered a success. Pegged by many to be bottom dwellers, they've proven time and time again they are resilient and while they may not have all the top tier talent of some other clubs, they have brought a high work ethic and youthful energy that has made this season a very memorable one for Sens fans.

And now, they have the opportunity to knock off the #1 team in the East and pull off a huge upset.

Erik Karlsson got his nomination for the Norris Trophy today. I expect Paul Maclean to get a Jack Adams nomination by the time all the nominees are handed out.

Jason Spezza had a career year. Craig Anderson has provided steady goaltending we haven't seen in the last five years.

Daniel Alfredsson proved he stil has plenty of gas left in the tank and had a tremendous all-star game where the fans showered him with love throughout the all-star weekend. If he retires this year, he had a good send off. But I think he'll play out his last year of his contract when he turns a ripe old age of 40 when next season is done.

Although there were no expectations this season, fans can't help but be greedy. We have a chance to move on to the next round, and with many favourites already knocked out, the doors seems to be a little wider to go all the way. Losing will be a disappointment, but, like one of their rallying shirt slogans says:

"Why stop now?"
