Random SBP Thoughts

It's been too long since I've done one of these, at the same time, I can't believe there was a time when I'd write a post once a day. Man, I was a superstar a few years ago wasn't I?

 - I've tried to get into Euro 2012, but I can't do it. The 1-0 scores...zzzzzz...not sure how fans tolerate such low offence. But I'll follow the Aussie team for the 2014 Worlds: At least my interest in seeing them do well holds my, er...interest.

 - And speaking of the Euro, my work's systems crashed because too many people were streaming the games live on their work computers during work hours. To prevent further problems, most sports websites have now been blocked. All I can say is some people are STOOPID.

 - What a week for Erik Karlsson: New $44 million contract, Norris trophy, and in less than 2 weeks he's getting married. At only 22 years old, will life for him just be all downhill from here?

 - Saw Jerry Seinfeld perform at the NAC last night and it was a fun show. He told the sort of jokes that retelling would not be funny, his timing and pace were the key to having the audience in his hands. He doesn't look like he's aged a bit and I hope he'll continue entertaining the masses.

 - Bringing your child to local parks will, of course, have you encounter other parents with their children. Most of the time I avoid chit-chat, but some will talk to you. My wife had the pleasure of conversing with a mom our age. This person thought it best to remark, "There's lots of Lebanese people here aren't there? But that's okay, they speak French!"  Phew, that was a close one.

 - Many asked my opinion, so I'll lay it out here. The Ottawa Senators have been in talks to land Rick Nash from Columbus, and many are fretting this will derail the "rebuild". No it won't. Ottawa can have these talks because they've been stockpiling prospects well and they can afford to lose some to land a player like Nash. I say do it, and I'll drive the players to the airport before the Blue Jackets change their mind.
