Spot SBP!

Last year, I went to the Ottawa tv taping for WWE Smackdown. Front row ringside seats and on television? I figured it was likely my swan song for attending live wrestling events as I rarely tune in to what's happening anymore.

But last month they came back, this time to do a LIVE taping for their flagship show, RAW. And with my connections (aka, a buddy at work), he managed to land 2nd row ringside tickets.

So who was I to say no?

The seats were located more towards the corner so there was little, if any, tv time, but some photos appeared on canoe.ca/slam and I managed to see myself looking back at the camera. Can you spot the SBP?!

Guess there will always be a soft spot in me whenever a show comes to town, and I always have a lot of fun when I go see it live. And as far as what's going on in this photo, I'm not quite sure myself!

Bruins Bling

I think this is the first time in the history of my blog that an entire month (September) went by without at least one post. Yeesh. Well I'm back and hopefully won't be gone as long again. Is anyone out there still reading?

Since it'll be awhile by the time the Sens have any chance to play for the Stanley Cup as they go into rebuild mode, why not take a look at what winning teams are doing to celebrate their accomplishments? The owner of the Boston Bruins apparently ordered 500 or so Stanley Cup championship rings to be distributed to the players, coaches, staff, etc, at an estimated cost of approximately $20,000 per ring. FIVE HUNDRED OF THEM! That's, what, $10 million? And the owners claim they need a salary cap.

If you've read my previous blog posts, you know I have a fondness for these big, gaudy, jewel-encrusted shanks of, in this case, 14K white gold. Just look at how shiny and expensive it is. And it's really a piece of history, a representation of winning the oldest Championship trophy in North America. No others will be made.

So going back to losing teams, I'll be attending the Sens home opener Tuesday and the following game on Thursday. At least we can see some youthful energy while they make mistakes, and they don't quit until the last whistle is blown. It might be a long season, but hey, REBUILD!

And in the meantime, I can use pictures like the one above to imagine what a Sens Cup ring might look like one day.
