A Sign of the Times

My work changed offices to a new LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building this week and they changed some of the accessories contained at our cubicles.

Many of my co-workers complained about the pint-sized garbage cans at our new digs. Indeed, they are tiny. But it occurred to me no one was complaining about the blue recycle box that came with it: It's actually much bigger than the garbage can. And I thought to myself, this is a good sign our society is headed in the right direction. Recycling options bigger than waste? Excellent. And hopefully this LEED building will be the norm for offices everywhere.

Comments:
As a designer who is studying to pass the LEED Accredited Professional exam, I am glad to hear you are happy with the way buildings are heading. Take a closer look around your office, you may notice things like waterless urinals, sensors at the sinks, light sensors that automatically shut off the lights when there is enough coming from the windows, more internal windows, more control over lighting and temperatur in your work areas. These are just a few of the things that need to be considered when a building is going for LEED certification...BTW, do you know what status the building has: gold, silver, certified, etc?

It's gold baby, GOLD!
