Hockey Night in Canada Theme - The Final Five
Here are the links for the final five choices you can vote for online:
Anthem #1
Anthem #2
Anthem #3
Anthem #4
Anthem #5
You have to watch the same 15 second Bell ad before each one which is slightly annoying.
What's up with the arrangements for each of the melodies? Do they really sound all that different? And I'm not sure if it's just my PC, but they sound "tinny", if that makes any sense. And I don't think any of them really drum up excitement/anticipation for a hockey game.
And is the synthesizer making a comeback? A-ha should have submitted an entry.
Anyway, I think they all stink.

I read a stat that said 50% of folks who see those types of ads click away before seeing the content. Nice move, CBC.
Anyways, yeah, they all sound tinny, derivative of the old theme song, or just boring TV sports show muzak.
I'd hate for them to produce something like the "We're gonna win" Bryan Adams travesty that TSN went with a few years back, but I think they should be straying a little further afield than what's being offered here.
As CBC was so quick to point out when doing their PR spin, it's just a song, people shouldn't get so invested.

WOW! Well since I only really watch hockey on sat this is actually frustrating;
#1. Seems to be the only one that would not entirely annoy me each week.
#2. NO! Pathetic
#3. Seems like an opening song from an 80’s TV show, I can see MacGyver or a member of the A-Team flying through the air after some bad guy.
#4. Refer to #3.
#5. Not bad with a little Celtic at the beginning until half way at which point refer to #4.
If these are the cream then I will simply play an opening song of my choosing b/c then again it is just a 1 min song that I once liked hearing but now with these could careless. And yes the synthesizer is coming back as the generation behind us actually thinks listening to 80’s music, and the bands that are producing a similar sound today, is a good thing. Stupid Kids!
But the use of synthesizer for these anthems is not for the reason I previously gave it is the fact that the people creating these crappy anthems don’t have musical talent and can only use one thing to produce it; a computer.

Let's be honest here B.P.,there really is just one song that the CBC should use. That's right,Photograph from The Lep!
I like #1 and #4. If the original had been entered into this contest I don't think it would have made the finals. I think SBP is hung up on the nostalgia of the old song.
