Happy Australia Day!

Yup, it's a pretty lazy post, but here's to my OTHER country!

Comments:
I'll have to (belatedly) celebrate by having a Fosters in Oz's honour at poker today!

How come I think you would have done so regardless?

Here is a question for the Guru from Australia...

Why in a country like Australia known for tough, strong, rugby playing, roo eating people that are known to be able to drink and keep up with the Europeans and Canadians, that they would have a beer as awful as Fosters?

No offence…but it is a bad beer…of course this is coming from a guy who drank MGD yesterday, and who had to try Maclays bc it was cheap…that stuff is awful I will be sticking to my premium beers ie Guinness and only by domestic when it is a good beer on sale.

Drink XXXX or Victoria Bitter, that stuff is the BEE'S KNEES!

Can you get either of them in Canada though?

No idea. You're the ones that drink all the beer, don't ask me! (I was actually trying to think of a time I've seen Forts WITHOUT a beer!)

the reason BP is that we are always watching a hockey game or playing poker which a few beers are a must...but I don't have a beer in my hand all the time...

Yeah, next time we get together for the book club or our weekly flower arranging class, I'll probably forego the beer as well.

(I was actually trying to think of a time I've seen SBP WITHOUT a Coke/Diet Coke/Diet Pepsi/Rootbeer!)

Hey Forts, I'll start drinking more beer starting when you bring me that tallboy you owe me after my Sens spanked your Bruins Saturday. ZING!!!

That is true Stan I haver never seen BP without the ole DP, or coke...nor have I not seen you with out a beer...

Are you serious we can do a book club...oh please that would be great...I will bring the tea...

Yes BP you will get a tallboy for your win...do they make coke tall boys?

A few problems with the book club idea:

1) I used to read books fairly quickly. Then something happened, and now the only books I can get through are ones I can put down after 3 sentences and then pick up a week later. Poker books are good like that.

2) If we want Ben to join, book'd have to involve a wrestler or a JFK conspiracy theory. Or possibly a wrestler's implication in a JFK conspiracy.

As for the beer thing: Guily as charged. Beer's delicious. As any fan of Tom T. Hall would surely agree:

"In some of my songs I have casually mentioned,

The fact that I like to drink beer

This little song is more to the point

Roll out the barrel and lend me your ears

(chorus)
I like beer. It makes me a jolly good fellow

I like beer. It helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow (makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much, vodka puts my mouth in gear

This little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact I like beer (he likes beer)

My wife often frowns when were out on the town

And I'm wearing a suit and a tie

Shes sipping vermouth and she thinks I'm uncouth

When I yell as the waiter goes by

(chorus)

Last night I dreamed that I passed from the scene

And I went to a place so sublime

Aw, the water was clear and tasted like beer

Then they turned it all into wine (awww)

I like beer. It makes me a jolly good fellow

I like beer. It helps me unwind and sometimes it makes me feel mellow (makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much, and vodka puts my mouth in gear

Aw, this little refrain should help me explain as a matter of fact I love beer

(yes, he likes beer)

PS- I have this in an MP3 if anyone would like to hear the song as it was meant to be enjoyed...

While sipping a beer.

we could have a music club where we play drinking games
"One scotch, one Whiskey one beer" everytime it is said you drink...

in this Tom T. Hall song we could drink everytime he says beer, or mentions any alcohol ;)

Hmmm, put your Jimmy Witherspoon on repeat with George Thorogood and we'd be dead by morning.

Someone should do a song about cake

I can't view it from work, but I hope this site offers what Google says they do: songs about cake...

Can someone take a look and post back?

Badcakes (myspace)

My work also blocks it. It must REALLY be non-work related!

It is a very odd site she does have a list of songs that deal with cake, here is one of her blogs;

"Freakout on the cake
Current mood: cakebrained

You know you want some frosting. Fronsting. Fraoinnstn. I am high on my own sugar content!!!

I cannot possibly be held responsible for any shenanigans.

Sheboygan! Shenanigans shenatnigha she...

Ooog.

A "We Put the Fun in FUNNELCAKE!" shirt. Need I say more.

And you wonder why my brain is scrambled."

Okay, great, thanks for nothing Google!
