Redden is the Man

With Redden reportedly signing for $13 million for 2 years, looks like the big guy Zdeno Chara will be wearing a new uniform for next season.

Based on what happened during the playoffs, Redden is the better and cheaper choice between the two. Chara does have that unique quality of being the largest man in the NHL and opponents don't enjoy playing against him, but his salary demands are just too unrealistic. If he agreed to Redden-like money, he might still be a Senator, but it's not the case.

Chris Phillips might now be in a position where he can show he's more than a #3 D man. He has been overshadowed playing alongside Chara for the past few seasons, but he could have the ability to be the go to guy on defence. Ottawa will still need to get some more muscle for the backend to compensate for Z's loss.

Not everything has been set in stone, Chara may be back, but if he isn't, Chara will still be missed by Ottawa fans.

I'm glad to see Redden is back. Most Senators fans aren't big Redden supporters, but this is one guy who appreciates what he brings to the ice every game.

Comments:
I certainly appreciate the apple TURNOVERS he brings to the game.

Pronger at 6.25 million is now a bargain when compared to the money spent on Redden & McCabe!

Hopefully now that Wade's gonna get the big bucks he'll block a shot or two in the playoffs and maybe add a physical dimension to his game...he should watch the tapes of Jason Smith - now he brings it when it counts!

Does this mean that coke'll be more expensive in Ottawa next season too?
